What does the Medical Library provide to members of the public?

Who is a "member of the public"?

A member of the public is someone who:

  • is not officially affiliated with OSU-CHS*
  • does not have an O-Key account
  • does not have an OSU-CHS ID Badge

*OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation (OSUCOM-CN) is included under the umbrella of OSU-CHS.

Can members of the public enter the Medical Library on campus?

OSU-CHS is a badge-access only campus. This includes the Medical Library. Therefore:

  • Members of the public are not permitted to enter the Medical Library unless they are the guest of an OSU-CHS affiliate.
  • Guests of an OSU-CHS affiliate must check-in with OSU-CHS security.
  • Guests of an OSU-CHS affiliate must be accompanied by the OSU-CHS affiliate at all times while on campus and/or in the Medical Library.

Can members of the public access Medical Library resources and services?

Members of the public are not included in our license agreements with publishers. However, we offer the following:

Literature Searches

  • The Medical Library will perform a maximum of two (2) literature searches per year for members of the public.
  • The Medical Library does not perform systematic reviews, scoping reviews, or meta-analyses for members of the public.

Known Article Retrieval

  • The Medical Library will provide complimentary access to five (5) full text journal articles per month.
  • Articles must be published by journals to which the Medical Library subscribes.
  • We can not purchase articles through Interlibrary Loan for members of the public.
